Great to see our own people out on the Road - witnessing to their community - Not an easy thing to do!!

Busy week - took the Kids to Hillview Garden Centre to see Santa!!! Great excitement as they got on the big bus!!

Even more excitement they arrived and went through the winter trail to meet 'the man'

Plus - They all got a stocking full of 'goodies' when they went back to the bus!! Praise God for a safe journey!!!

The Ladies went on a shopping trip to Ballymena on Saturday - and had a great day out!!

We entered two teams in the Community Quiz - Good "Craic" and we didn't come last!!! In fact one of the teams came fourth!!

Thousands of Tracts had to be stamped and ready for distribution on the Road in the run up to Christmas.

Must have been the coldest day of the year so far when we went out on Thursday to start distribution.

We parked the Bus at Co-op car park and set up a table - Gave away free tea or coffee, but most important gave out booklets with the good News that ...

Family service time again - with some of the kids taking part and Sam Humphries as our speaker and he told us about the parable of the lost sheep.

We had Jim Wier to lead our praise and sing last Sunday - His rendering of 'Call out to Jesus' was really special!

Since moving the 'One Way Club' to Malvern Primary School the numbers have increased - There are now 30-40 attending. Some kids have asked for Bibles and these will be delivered to their homes this week. One Girl has committed her life to Christ. Join us in praying for the children of the Shankill Road.

We now have over 20 people at our Tuesday night Bible Study and prayer time

We begin at 7.00 p.m. and it is informal-interactive- conversational type Bible Study for over an hour. We encourage questions and comments and it is a really special time

We are currently working our way through the Baptist Missions 'The Master and His Disciple' course - Great for covering the basic teaching about Christianity.

After our Bible study we write out prayer requests and share them around and have a prayer time- that way we are praying for each other and carrying each others burdens - Real prayer fellowship!! We are so encouraged by new believers taking part audibly in prayer.

Some people have been asking what do we do on a Sunday morning?
- We kick off with announcements for the following week. Then Ivan leads us in some worship songs

- We read from the Bible and pray. We have a prayer request box and encourage people to put their requests in it and we also encourage them to shout out prayer requests so that we are praying for real issues and real life situations.

- We now have a large number of children attending and we have a children's song before they leave and go to another room for a Bible lesson

- We then give time to listen to teaching from God's Word.

The atmosphere is quite informal and if someone has a question they are free to ask at any time.
We usually finish with a song and then spend some time together over tea, coffee and juice for the kids.

Some changes coming up
- We are changing our Monday morning prayer time to 10.00 am, just before the drop - in opens!
- We have been given permission to use Malvern Primary School for our 'One Way Club' - so we will be there after the half-term break. A big opportunity to reach more children!!!

Had a visit from Jonathan Pollock and some folk from Cliftonpark Ave Baptist to see what we are doing!

Some of the Ladies decided to try and takeover the Pool Table - but it didn't last long!!

Drennan's 3 Wheeler caused a bit of a stir and a queue of men to get their photos taken - Boys and their Toys!!

We are being greatly encouraged at our Tuesday night Bible studies and prayer times - Following last Tuesdays study we have 5 PEOPLE WHO WANT TO BE BAPTISED!!

We mixed with the great and the good !! - well with The First Minister and accompanying politicians and interested parties who came to open Phase 2 of The Argyle Business Centre - We are looking forward to getting two units there when it is completed!! Hopefully within the next year!!

Thanks To Darren our Minibus passed the MOT and is ready for another years hard work!!

We travelled to Dungannon Baptist on Sunday evening and took the Service there - a new experience - for us and them!!

We are grateful that Sam Humphries from the Carryduff church is going to be our speaker at our monthly family service for the next three months - He is brilliant with the kids!! And the Adults too!!

Everything now up and running again after the summer break. During the last two weeks we have celebrated birthdays in the now usual tradition of Cake & Candles!!

Both Amy an Anne are a year older!!

When we re-opened the drop - in we had our youngest ever visitor - baby Carson just a week old!!

We said goodbye to Jean who has been with us from the beginning - Jean is moving away from Shankill to be closer to her family

The 'One Way ' club gets going again this week - pray for the kids and helpers

The devil was busy over the summer - but GOD has been at work already - at our first Bible Study a lady came back to The Lord and at our second two young girls came to faith.

PLEASE CONTINUE TO PRAY FOR US ON THE SHANKILL THROUGHOUT THE YEAR

Last Sunday marked the end of two years of Shankill Community Fellowship - During that time we have had 8,655 hits on this blog WOW!! Thats an average of over 11 every day!! -

Thank you all for following us and for praying with us!!

We finished the two years with our family service - There were a good number present - even though some regulars were still on holiday

We have 70 Kids registered today!! This has surpassed all our expectations!!
The Team met for prayer and to allocate jobs at 8.45am.

The Americans Arrived on Monday evening and we had a get together and some food!! This morning they were part of the whole team and blended in well with the activities.

Aggie appeared with a special prayer printed on her T shirt!!

The Bus run from unit 6 to 36 is a great attraction

Abbie had her cream bun breakfast on the bus this morning!!

There were over 50 children today and the unit was a real hive of activity

The American girls 'Face Painting' was a big hit - although it turned out to be Face arm and leg painting!!

A Strange man with a panama Hat and funny eyes kept our attention at the front!!

One Way Club - Day 1

We met for prayer at 8.45am - And everything was ready for registration at 9.30am.

A total of 48 Kids were registered and a few more came later. They were taken to Unit 36 in the Bus and the games began!!

At registration they were given a name tag and allocated to one of four teams. These rotated through the four activities - Trampoline - Crafts - Baking and Wii. There was more than a buzz about the unit!!

KIM made sure everyone knew what to do!!! - Think she really likes the loudhailer!!

It was great to see so many of our own people helping - all dressed up in their yellow T shirts!!

The Kids were really attentive (apart from a few!!) to the memory verse, story and quiz!

We finished up with lunch - hot dogs ,Crisps and Penguins!! A Great start to the week.

Busy week - getting ready for the 5 Day - ONE WAY Club for Kids next week. Cleaned out Unit 36 - Kindly loaned by Argyle Business Centre

A Strange Mexican on a donkey went up and down the Road advertising the club!! Everybody on the road was talking about him!!! A couple of thousand leaflets were given out.

We had two birthdays this week! On Thursday we had a Pizza Party for Kenny's 50th!!

And on Sunday we celebrated Darren's birthday with a CAKE!!

Throughout the week we met for prayer on Monday - Wednesday and Friday to pray for the forthcoming ONE WAY CLUB

The One Way Club finally got their outing to Indianaland!! They had a ball expending their energy while the leaders sat around drinking coffee!!

The Keep Fit/Zumba/Slimming classes are going well!

SOOOO!!!! Well that KIM & LAUREN have lost 3 STONES in weight between them!!!

We had a special visitor at the drop-in - imagine a cow getting lost on the shankill road!!

We had a birthday cake for Kim & Katie after church on Sunday - of course Jeffrey had to help blow out the candles!!

We helped in the Bible Reading Marathon - The whole Bible was read from Genesis to Revelation without stopping this week. The lecturn and loudspeaker were set up on steps of West Kirk and it was a privelege to participate. Some people came to faith just through listening to God's Word being read.

God at work !! - Kim had the joy of leading 3 people to The Lord this week!!
Ever heard of the Shankill Gold Rush??

Billy Stevenson was the boy who found the gold and started the Gold Rush!! He spoke at our family service and as well as telling us about finding the gold he told us how he found something more precious than Gold when he found JESUS!! The children took part in the service.

At the end Billy gave the children - Gold coins!!! Chocolate ones of course - covered in gold foil!!

He also met some people from 'way back then!!'

Went to Parkview Nursing home again for the Sunday evening service - Everyone really enjoyed it!

WWW. Walk for Life started on Wednesday And Eleanor Gaston explained all about calories and healthy eating - excercise etc.!

The Healthy food!! - The unhealthy food is under the silver foil - or out of the picture!! I also heard that some ladies took a short cut during the walk!!!

'One Way Club' outing on Friday - to Indiana Land had to be cancelled because Belfast was gridlocked because of multiple bomb scares. They had to make do with Fish suppers in Beatties!!!

We had a visit from 'Pleun' a member of the Cork church - originally from the Netherlands. He was up for the Association Council meetings - Had read about SCF in the Insight Magazine and decided to look us up! Very encouraging!!

This is a continuation of the previous post - After the service Kathleen and Natalie shared a birthday cake!! and Jeffrey helped to blow out the candles!!

For the evening service we went to Parkview nursing home. Sharon and Charlie sang a duet!!

And a Roman Centurion (AKA Brian Dorman) told the story of how Jesus was crucified - was buried and rose again.

Afterwards a couple of the residents asked us to pray with them - What a privilege and a great end to Easter Sunday.

Easter Sunday was special!! We started out with breakfast together mmmmm!!!

As you can see Kim's still attending SLIMMING WORLD!!

We then went upstairs and had a lovely time at 'The Lord's Table' - Special at Easter!!
Our family service was packed.

The Kids took part and sang really well.

Rachel Brown from Baptist Youth presented the story of the Cross in a simple, relevent and challenging way.

Phyllis Celebrated her ?9th birthday!!

We started a ministry to a group of people with Alcohol Related Brain Damage and hope to build relationships and show the love of Christ in practical ways.

The Kids from the After Schools Club went to the Baptist Youth ' BIG NITE OUT' in Moira Baptist - with the compulsory stop at Mc Donalds on the way.

Kim and Rhonda committed loads of 'Slimming World' SINS!!

It was a great Nite out and there was a real challenge from the Bible - Just at the right level for the kids.

a Big Week!! Aaron celebrated his birthday - buns with candles instead of a cake!!

We went to Parkview nursing home for our evening service and brought St Patrick (aka Brian Dorman) with us!!

He told his story and underlined the need to trust in Jesus - Sharon Wilson rediscovered her gifts for singing and playing the guitar!! And the residents really joined in and appreciated the Hymns and choruses.

On Monday both Alec and Mary came to faith in Christ!!

On Tuesday we started the 'Freedom in Christ' course led by Bill Holloway from the Newtownbreda Church and there were over 30 present!!

WWW (Women Witnessing to Women) this week again - one man allowed in!! The singing chef!!
It takes a man to show them how to make a pavlova!!!

Of course he also told them about Jesus!!

A big event on 17th March - St Patrick visited the Shankill Road

At the centre he told his story and how he preached the gospel in Ireland - Of course there was food - You guessed it - Irish Stew!! (well, Shankill Road stew from Mikala's)

We held our Baptismal service in Tennant Street Baptist Church on Tuesday night - The ground floor was full of people - friends and families of those being baptised and people form the Shankill area.

Brian led the service - We had a great time of praise - The candidates were interviewed by Kim - Albert preached.

Despite the snow and ice we went out onto the Road and parked the bus in the Co-op Car park (kindly permitted) and gave away Tea, Coffee, shortbread and mince pies!! Big job to keep the milk from freezing in the back of the bus!!

We gave out 1,000 of these booklets and flyers explaining the true message of Christmas.

We braved the snow and went to 'The Maples' and 'Parkview' Nursing Homes and held a Carol Service in each of them.

The Residents and staff really appreciated our visit - We are planning to go to 'Parkview' to hold a Sunday Evening Service on a monthly basis.

Albert Mc Donald spoke on both occasions and we are grateful to the Carryduff Church for releasing him to work with us on a couple of days a week.
Just so you know - Albert is the one not wearing the red suit Ho! Ho! Ho!

Christmas Dinner this week - Over 80 people came - We got the Caterers in this year and they did a great job!! 'Slemish' Provided the music and we had a bit of a 'Hooley' afterwards!

We entered 3 teams in the local Community Quiz - Needless to say we didn't win - but the 'craic' was good. did You know that Hitlars' dog was called Blondie or that a baby rat is a kitten??

Sunday was our Family Carol Service and there was a 'full house' - The Kids from the After Schools club took us on a journey telling us how Christmas is Celebrated around the world and singing with varied accents and music. Both the Kids and the leaders dressed up in the custumes of the different countries - Brilliant!!!

Snow and ice all around meant a decrease in numbers - But we had a good service and Brian challenged us about being 'The salt of the earth and the light of the world'

Next Sunday Claire and Co from Moira helped with the music - a big thank you to them.

At the drop - in Sharon did a demo on how to make Trifle, Banoffee Pie and shortbread mmmmmmmmmmm!!

There was a 'Rolling pin' competition between Aggie,Angela, Stacey and Rochella - Aggie's hip action won the day!!!

Wee William was totally facinated by it all - Everybody enjoyed the results and it all disappeared ' like snow of a ditch!'

The WWW event was opened up for MEN!! There was a great turnout. Mike Williams from the 'Stauros' Foundation spoke about what life was like growing up as the child of an addict and how ultimately 'JESUS' made the difference!

Jonathan Sanlon visited at the drop-in to take some footage for a DVD for Baptist Missions.

Laura and Hannah did a sponsored walk some weeks ago from Lisburn to Belfast to raise funds for SCF - Many thanks to them for their initiative!!

Big event this week was the WWW = Women Witnessing to Women meeting where Catherine Campbell told her story. A great sense of God's presence!

Leah is a student at Belfast Bible College and has come to us as part of her training placement this year.

We had a capacity crowd at our Praise service this week!

Tracy & Co From Greenisland led us in our praise

Paul Sicock and Gary Mc Dowell were our guest singers and Richard Garnham from Moira was our speaker.

The SCF crowd sang 'Thank you Jesus' - Debbie gave her testimony and Raymond spoke about volunteering

The offering of over £800 went towards our Minibus fund - THE LORD HAS GIVEN US OVER £7K FOR A MINIBUS this past couple of weeks. SO WE ARE NOW SERIOUSLY ON THE LOOKOUT FOR THE BUS GOD HAS FOR US!!

In addition to the regular programme Kim and Brian went into Malvern school this week for the S U and also for the breakfast club. Pray for the children and young people of the Shankill. Sadly, suicide is a continuing problem in this community. FASA held a vigil on Wednesday night to increase suicide awareness.

Some of the families affected released lanterns into the sunset sky at the end of the vigil.

The drop in was busy and Kim decided to show some of the ladies how to make Lasagne -

It looked good - but after trying to slice it there was some debate about whether it was a new dish called bolgnese soup!!!

Anyway - it was 'magic'and the whole lot soon disappeared!!

We had a good service on Sunday and Lois celebrated her birthday! We focussed on the fact that the Great Eternal God is 'OUR FATHER'

Tuesday night Bible Study got under way again after the summer.

Christianity Explained Course started on Wednesday night - Really encouraged that 16 people turned up!!
A great evening!!

On Sunday Amy told us about her time in Uganda.

Kim gave her a verse of scripture and prayed with her as she heads off to Lancaster University to study.

It was a big week for Amy as it was also her birthday - so guess what??

We had CAKE!!
We also had a visit on Friday from an American Team who presented the 'Celebrate Recovery' Program.

Eric celebrated his 6?th Birthday at the drop-in this week!

It was amazing to see the room upstairs well filled with people on Sunday morning - hard to believe that we started out just this time last year!! GOD is GOOD!!

The Greenisland Group provided the music and Paul Silcock sang some challenging songs.

We gave the centre a good tidy up - Found a new use for the Pool Table when sorting out Tracts and other literature!!

Great to have most people back - We celebrated Darren's 13th Birthday after church on Sunday.

The Team met all day on Tuesday with Gordon Darragh and Philip Brown from Baptist Missions to plan and pray for the next year of the work.

We are making prayer a priority - meeting every Monday morning at 8.00 a.m. if you want to join us for a short time on your way to work we will appreciate your fellowship!!

Holidays have kept us from updating the blog - But 'We're back!!'
Brian took the Sunday services for the past 4 weeks and held the fort while the rest of us took some time out.

The Drop-in continued to be busy with a lot of the young people about because of the school holidays.

Our New Dart-Board became the centre of attraction for some!

The WWW Walk for life continued due to popular demand - followed by the usual unhealthy supper!!

Sue has gone back to live in England

Out on the 'Road' Mikala's has had a makeover!!

But best of all Kathy, who works in Mikala's and was given a Bible by Kim last year has become a 'New Creation' in Christ!! Praise The Lord!! -

All our musicians on holiday - so had to sing without music at the service!! Sounded pretty good!! Had the service downstairs because there were so many away - but surprised by the number who turned up!!

Busy week with the Baptist Youth Evangelism Team - They were out on 'The Road' doing questionnaires every morning as well as helping at the drop-in.

An open-air children's five day club was held in Ashmore every afternoon.

Monday night was 'neighbours' night at Kim's house - where neighbours were invited in to meet the team - have supper and Graham gave his testimony.

Tuesday was Youth night and Walk4life was on Wednesday - Walked along the towpath at Shaw's Bridge and back to the centre where Ciara gave her testimony.

On Thursday we had a table quiz - Davey - our very able quizmaster also spoke at the end - The Best Team won!!!

Friday night BBQ was magic - never seen so many burgers and hot dogs disappear so quickly - we just about accommodated everyone who turned up!!

Shirley and Vicky gave their testimony and it was a great evening - Thanks to Darren and Raymond for doing the 'cooking'

We had our monthly family service with the group from Greenisland providing the music - A week of blessing.

Drop in really busy this week - seems that the word about us is spreading!!

BYE (Baptist Youth Evangelism) Team arrived for tea on Saturday. 7 in the Team from Carrickfergus, Bangor, Donemana, Lisburn and Armagh.

The Team took the Sunday morning service - They even provided the music!

And Davy preached a challenging and relevant message from Psalm 1. We all had lunch together and then the Team made out invitations to the 5 Day Club and went out into the area to distribute them.

The evening finished with a service in Parkview Nursing Home - reminded us that life goes by quickly! Graham spoke about Nicodemus and the fact that

Had our first 'open' Bible Study' On Tuesday night. Open = Open to male and female and Christians and non-Christians. We are following the 'Stranger on the Road to Emmaus' course - A Brilliant time with good participation

On Wednesday Pamela Brown from the Stauros Foundation began a group meeting for ladies with addiction problems - They will meet every 2 weeks.

Friday night was the Youth BBQ and we went to Seapark in Holywood. While some cooked - others had a go in the play park!!

A few ventured into the sea - clothes and all!!
A Great night finished with Raymond giving his testimony.

Saturday was our 'Givaway shop' again - the Centre was absolutely bunged with people - Great opportunities to talk about who we are and why we are on the Shankill. Gave out loads of literature and flyers.

We Went out to the Road in the afternoon with tea and coffee - and to give out literature in the run up to the Whiterock Parade - Great opportunites!!

Walk for life 3rd session took place on Tuesday - around 30 took part.

Around 20 of us went to Ballyard Castle for the 'Stauros' conference and BBQ on Friday night.

Had a good time at the service on Sunday - Celebrated Kim's 3?th Birthday at the end with a big chocolate cake!!

Met with Tracy and Davy Ellison to plan our Baptist Youth Evangelism Team week scheduled for the first week in July.

The WWW. Walk for life - 2nd instalment took place on Tuesday night with around 30 turning up for the walk and Sharon Campbell brought a challenging message before supper.

Brian decorated the place with flags in preparation for the World Cup!! We plan to provide an alcohol free environment for men to come in and watch the matches.

Unfortunately the first one planned was called off because of the death of Brian's brother in a boating accident. Pray for the Dorman family at this time.

We had a 'commissioning' slot at our family service when Kim interviewed the girls who are going away over the summer, gave them a verse of scripture and prayed for them.

The men went bowling for Alan's stag night - Stanley won!! Eric Lost, Brian tried & John gave up!!!

We also had a visit from a group from Trinity Presbyterian in Bangor - accompanied by a few Baptists!! One of whom showed the signs of a mis-spent youth!!

Kim did a presentation on the work and Brian acted out St Patrick! A worthwhile visit for all concerned - We would be happy to have other groups visit us to get first hand information about what is happening on the Shankill.

Sadly the week ended with a tragic killing just up the road from where we meet.

Needed chairs for our Praise service - made an appeal at the ABCI churches council - Got chairs from Tenant Street, Dungannon and Ballycrochan - Thanks to all!! Had to turn down some offers - there must be thousands of unused chairs in church stores!!!

The Praise night was really something for us - a great encouragement - The Conference room was packed to capacity .

The praise group and singers led our praise magnificently - a real sense of God's presence.

The Shankill said goodbye to Stephen Robinson on Monday - Crowds lined the Road for the funeral.

We had a team meeting to plan for the future and Brian & Moira Dorman are back. Brian will be working with us full time trying to start events for Men among other things.

The 'Barnabas Players' visited the after schools club and really got everybody involved as they told Bible Stories in their inimitable way

'Ben' from Greenisland came to the youth Club and really got everybody's attention with his tricks!! Then they listened well to his talk and it was great to have some of the kids turn in to the Sunday morning service!!

Sad week - Stephen Robinson (pictured below) - one of the regulars at the drop-in and a well known character on the Shankill Road was found dead in his home.

Showed the Christianity Explored DVD on the crucifixion at the drop-in on Thursday. Great attention and conversation.

Took the Youth Club to W5 on Friday - They had a real ball!! Amazing just to see the group of young people that God has given us already.

On Saturday the centre was opened for a 'Giveaway Shop' - Everything was free - The place was Buzzin!!

Mothers Day on Sunday. Sharon made lovely little gifts for all the Ladies and Amy and Lauren gave them out at the service.

Numbers were small at the Youth Club this week - But God had worked it out that it meant more freedom to talk to the kids. Discovered that most had no Bibles in their home - so we gave them one each. The night was crowned by one of the teenagers committing her life to The Lord!! GOD IS GOOD

Had a review of what we have been doing over the past six months and decided to concentrate on the things that are going well - The Drop - in ministry, after schools club, Tuesday night Bible study, Youth Club and Sunday morning Service. Dropping Sunday evenings for the present and going to take some initiatives in ministry to men.

Meanwhile - Jullianne celebrated her 38th Birthday at the drop-in on Thursday and wee David helped her blow out the candles!!

Stephen enjoyed a few hours kip on the sofa!!

This week we had another WWW (Women Witnessing to Women) event. A 'Traybake' demo where they got to eat the results of the Demo accompanied by real Coffee!!

Shiela got frustrated with the Wii at the after schools club!!

We had our first Youth Club on Friday with 24 Secondary School Kids attending - Really well behaved and listened attentively to the testimonies at the end - Great!!

Sunday evening began our series of 'Griefshare' sessions and while numbers were small it was very profitable.

We had our first 'Games Night' on Saturday 24th January - great turnout and atmosphere! All the 'brainy ones' played Scrabble!

All the 'Big Kids' played 'Jenga'

Those with a 'mis-spent' youth played Pool!

The 'Hyperactive' played the Wii

Everyone had a great time! The night finished with a talk on 'The Rich Young Ruler' everybody stayed around for Hot Dogs and a chat for quite a long time afterwards. Good to see them reluctant to go home!!

As part of the Sunday morning service the children heard the story of Helen Cadbury!! and we finished up with hot chocolate complete with cream and marshmallows mmmmmmmmmmm!!!

This week The Lord provided an Air hockey/football/games table and a new Pool Table for the drop in and the after school club!!

We are amazed at God's provision!!

Drop in and After Schools club back to 'full swing' this week. Sharon showed us all how to make 'top hats' and then we ate them!!

Kim and Abbie got really 'serious' about the Wii

And the two Davids had a relax on the sofa!!

We are going to celebrate 'The Lord's Table' for the first time in Shankill Community Fellowship on the last Sunday of the month and some friends sent us a gift of a lovely Communion Tray and cups!
